Filter assistant used in Classification 2.0 search
On this compare Section 3.1.6.4.10, “ Classification 2.0 search ”.
Filter assistants are also provided on the B2B portal.
The extended Filter Assistant is normally created administratively, aiming to pregenerate the mostly used filters, in order to ease finding relevant parts for users.
A Search filter assistant is based on any desired search. The search path in the search filter assistant is the same, which has been used for the filter generation.
You can set, which variables should be displayed later in the filter.
(This is very helpful if different variable names have been used in catalogs for one and the same.
Search filter assistants are found in a dedicated catalog. At the first creation of an assistant the catalog "- Filter assistants -" is automatically created.
A Search filter assistant opens in its own docking window.
To open the desired assistant simply double-click it in the index tree. Perform settings with sliders, checkboxes, etc. and finally click . The search is performed as any "normal" search.
Search filter assistant Create
In the following the creation of a search filter assistant is explained:
Perform a search on whose basis you want to create the search filter assistant.
After a performed search open the generator (the dialog box Search Filter Generation Settings) on the tabbed page Search results by clicking on the icon Extended search filter assistant .
You can test the created assistant dynamically: When clicking it immediately opens and can be tested. The generator remains open, the settings can be adjusted and you can generate again till the result is satisfying.
Search filter generation settings at a glance
In the dialog Search Filter Generation Settings, on the left side, you can see the dialog area Found variables with variable names, description, supplier name and value ranges, on the right side the dialog area Selected variables, which initially is empty. The selection of the variables to be overtaken in the search filter assistant happens via drag & drop. Simply draw the desired variables into the right area. Change sequence or delete variables via context menu command.
Sometimes different variable names are used for the same geometric characteristic (the following figures show exemplarily DA and D2). It is particularly interesting to unify different variables in one filter in the Search filter assistant and to adjust the naming of the filter.
Double-click into the variable field. Rename the variable as desired how it shall be shown in the filter (for example DA / D2).
On the tabbed page Technical previews, previews are listed (on the basis of the search results). Drag the desired previews from the Preview selection area into the Selected previews area via drag & drop. These are later displayed in the assistant to complement the filter selection.
On the tabbed page Project icon respective previews are listed (on the basis of the search results). Drag the desired previews from the Preview selection area into the Selected previews area via drag & drop. These are later displayed in the assistant to complement the filter selection.
Variable frequency of occurrence (column Frequency)
Colored percent values show the frequency of occurrence of each variable in the respective catalog. 100% means that the variable is found in all search results.
Top left in the list field, select the desired catalog display language for the dialog box Search Filter Generation Settings.
On the left side under Found variables you can find input fields in the column header for filtering.
You can select different view modes for the variable selection.
Below each variable the catalogs containing it are listed. Variables which already have been moved to the right side are grayed out. If you clear the checkbox Show all then the grayed out variables are hidden.
Below each catalog the respectively contained variables are listed. Variables which already have been moved to the right side are grayed out. If you clear the checkbox Show all then the grayed out variables are hidden.
Add classification characteristic
You can add classification characteristics to the assistant. Therefor select the tabbed page Classification and drag the desired characteristics to the right side into the Selected variables area.
If Show all is disabled already selected filter variables are hidden on the left side under Found variables.
Activate/deactivate translation languages
On the right side under Selected variables the Description is initially displayed in all available catalog languages. You can deactivate language(s) not needed via checkbox.
Storage directory for assistants
By default assistants should be stored in the catalog - Filter assistants - predefined by CADENAS. That's why in the list field Path "My filters" is already set and only the assistant's name (the prj file) has to be stated.
Furthermore select a language in the list field. Then the assistant will be saved in a respective subdirectory.
Self created assistants are displayed under "My filters" in the respective subdirectory for language.
When choosing the option User-defined path in the list field Path, you can specify any catalog as storage path for the assistant. In this way a catalog supplier for example can save a filter assistant in its own catalog.
Filter assistants provided by CADENAS are found under - Filter assistants - -> CADENAS.
The filter name is later displayed in the search filter assistant.
